SSAR Support Platform

Chair of Core Group

The Core Group of the SSAR Support Platform was established to mobilize a broad spectrum of key stakeholders, fostering political, financial, and technical support for the implementation of the Solutions Strategy for Afghan Refugees (SSAR). Its primary goal is to raise awareness of the Afghan refugee situation while driving financial and technical support from the international community.

The Inaugural Meeting of the Core Group, in conjunction with the SSAR Quadripartite Steering Committee, took place on 7 October 2021, setting the groundwork for collaborative efforts among key partners.

As of October 2024, the Kingdom of the Netherlands has assumed the Chairmanship, succeeding the State of Qatar, which held the position previously. The Vice-Chair will be appointed in due course, following the established annual rotation of leadership within the Core Group.

The Core Group consists of Denmark, the European Union, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, Qatar, Switzerland, the Republic of Türkiye, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, as well as the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme as well as IOM.
